Protect everything in your home from one spot.
A whole-home surge protector installs at your electrical panel and guards every circuit in the house: appliances, furnace and heat pump, well pump, EV charger and electronics. One install, permit filed, for homeowners across Eastern Ontario.
Surge protection for the whole house, not just one outlet
A power bar only protects what's plugged into it. A whole-home surge protector mounts at your electrical panel and stops damaging voltage spikes before they reach any circuit in the house.
Today's homes are full of electronics: appliance control boards, furnace and heat pump controls, smart thermostats, EV chargers and well pump controllers. Small surges wear these parts down over time, and a big one can take them out all at once. Protecting them at the source is the simplest way to avoid an expensive repair bill.
Surges happen more often than most people think
Not every surge comes from a thunderstorm. Most are small and go unnoticed, but they add up.
Lightning & storms
Lightning that strikes nearby, even without hitting your home, can send a large surge through power and service lines.
Utility switching & outages
Power coming back on after an outage and switching on the utility's lines can send spikes into your home. Rural lines across Eastern Ontario see their share of both.
Inside your own home
Motors and compressors in furnaces, A/C units, pumps and appliances create small surges every time they cycle on and off.
Two layers work best
A whole-home unit and good power bars do different jobs. Used together, they give your home the best protection.
Whole-home surge protector
Handles the large surges coming in from outside and protects hard-wired equipment that a power bar can't, like your furnace, heat pump, well pump, range and EV charger.
Point-of-use power bars
Quality surge-rated power bars catch whatever is left for your most sensitive electronics, like TVs, computers and home office equipment.

Surge protection questions
Do I really need whole-home surge protection?
If you have modern appliances, a heat pump, an EV charger, a well pump or electronics you'd rather not replace, it's inexpensive protection for a lot of equipment. Most of today's appliances have circuit boards that can be damaged or worn down by surges, even when nothing looks wrong right away.
Will it protect my home from a direct lightning strike?
No surge protector can guarantee protection from a direct strike. A whole-home unit is designed to handle the far more common surges from nearby lightning, utility switching and equipment inside your home, and it greatly reduces the risk to everything connected to your electrical system.
Do I still need surge protector power bars?
For sensitive electronics like TVs, computers and gaming systems, yes. The whole-home unit at the panel handles the big surges coming in from outside, and a good power bar adds a second layer right at the device. Together they give the best protection.
How long does the installation take?
Most installations take a few hours. The unit mounts at or next to your electrical panel and connects to a dedicated breaker.
Is a permit required?
Yes. In Ontario, electrical work like this needs an ESA notification filed by a licensed electrical contractor. We take care of that as part of every job.
How do I know it's still working?
Most whole-home surge protectors have indicator lights that show the unit is protecting your home. We'll show you what to look for. If a large surge ever uses up the unit, the light tells you it's time to replace it.
